From rails to trails to pristine bike lanes, Specialized's Ariel Sport Disc takes you further and faster so you'll enjoy all your favorite rides even more. It eats up pavement and dirt thanks to its great-handling Specialized A1 Premium aluminum frame, a bump-bustin' SR Suntour suspension fork, and smooth-rolling, 700c wheels. You'll also love the easy-pedaling 27-speed Shimano drivetrain and the excellent stopping power of the Tektro hydraulic-disc brakes. And to make your rides even nicer, the Ariel boasts a comfy women's Specialized Body Geometry seat.

Specialized's women's bikes make every ride a blast!

To optimize the fit, pedaling efficiency, comfort and control, Specialized tailors the geometry and components on their women’s bicycles just for you. The frames are engineered with smaller-diameter tubes to decrease weight and increase compliance. They have shorter top tubes for a perfect fit and greater stand-over height on smaller sizes for easy on/off. Plus, for a truly custom feel, Specialized includes small-diameter grips, narrow handlebars and women's seats that make every ride totally fun and comfortable.

A worthy investment

About Me

Comments:

I was up for a new bike after my mountain bike got stolen at my daughters college....it was 12 years old, so not a tremendous loss. I wanted a hybrid as there are plenty of trails around, and while a mountain bike can pretty much go anywhere, it won't go as fast on road and takes more effort to pedal. The Specialized Ariel caught my eye as it wasn't a cheapie bike, but not outrageously expensive. It was a rainy day, but I was able to ride the sport disc version areound the store and it felt very nice. Extremely smooth and responsive. They also had the next version down ($550) and sales guy said it was same frame, just different brakes and shift components. I figured I could save a few hundred as the components were still good, but when I rode it, it did not feel the same at all. I stuck with the Ariel sport disc and have been very happy with it. Several rides later I can say it shifts cleanly, brakes smoothly. The front fork has a lockable shock absorber and I can't say I feel it too much when riding over small bumps, but that isn't a huge deal for me. The coral color is unique and I love the looks and feel of bike. I got the large frame model, although I am only 5'7". Their sizing chart says that is the upper limit for a medium, bottom limit for large, but I prefer to stretch out rather than feel cramped. Love this bike! Well worth the extra money to get this version, especially if I keep it for my average of 10 years.

    Comments:

Love this bike. The sport disc model is definitely worth the few extra bucks. I've hit a curb before and rode off one and the sport disc feature of my bike absorbed the shock very well. The liquid brake system is also amazing and the bike stops on a dime. The tires are still full and everything is working well after riding the bike 5 days a week for 4 months. The only con about this bike that I can think of is that a few of my gears are slightly noisy.
