The long, winding road is yours for the taking on board Cannondale's Synapse Carbon 105 6. Synapse Endurance Race Geometry appeals to Gran Fondo specialists, high-mileage junkies, and riders who love the thought of knocking out centuries in comfort. Ballistec carbon transfers power smoothly and damps road vibration, while Shimano's 22-speed 105 drivetrain clicks through fast, easy shifts with a mere flick of your finger. FSA cranks spin Shimano's RS010 wheels featuring climb-boosting low weight, and sprint-enhancing acceleration. Matched with high-quality Schwalbe tires, you're primed to pin every corner and curve on your favorite road loop. Plus, Shimano's Tiagra brakes have power to spare. Throw in a sleek, supportive Cannondale saddle and a batch of Cannondale's own prime components and you've got a hard bike to beat on any road.

Comments:

Essentially the same bike as the 2014 Bike of the Year, although one year newer and with a different paint job. As such, it's a fantastic bike all around. Albeit, the best adjective to describe the Tektro brake calipers that I've read is "indifferent." They work I suppose, but I do wish it came with 105 calipers as they are a bit better and they also have a bit more of a reputation. Furthermore, Shimano's RS10 wheelset is about as entry level as it gets, which I personally would hope for a bit more when dropping two grand for a bike. While the BB30a contributes to the bike's stiffness and performance, I've found it to be a bit limiting when looking to upgrade the crank from FSA's gossamer, (which likes the brakes and wheelset, does it's job but does not impress.) But BB30a is the nature of Cannondale today, because the supersix evo also uses it. Perhaps that's Shimano's fault though for not offering BB30 compatibility without third party adapters. If I'm honest, I admit I'm just being overly critical with the cons, because it does not take away from the fact that this shares the same specs and groupset as a bike that was so great, it was deemed the best bike of 2014. It's still as stiff, as comfortable, and as fun as you could dream for a road bike.

Comments:

I purchased my Synapse 105 7 months ago as a replacement for my first road bike. I was looking for something much more comfortable than the all aluminum bike I was riding. This bike has been that and so much more. It is very responsive and fast, yet comfortable for long rides. I completed my first century on this bike and two more since. With 3,000 miles on the bike I have had only a few small issues that were easily fixed.
